Copying Text to iPhone

Posted on March 29, 2010

There have been a few times when I am working on my computer and I need to copy some text over to my iPhone or at least have it available in the global clipboard of the device. They are a number of ways to do this. The obvious way is to send yourself an email. However, a quicker way is to use this app called Lazy Text. It is free today but I am not sure how long that will last. All you have to do is open a certain page in your browser that links wirelessly to your iPhone. I have it bookmarked so it is quick. Then I type or copy into the box anything that I want sent to the iPhone. On the Lazy Text app, I have the choice to click on tabs to send it straight to my email client, phone, web browser SMS or map. As it is already in the global clipboard, I can also just open the Notes app and paste it there. Quite simple.

New Price Plans for TrueMove iPhone

Posted on March 26, 2010

TrueMove have unveiled their new price plans for the iPhone here in Thailand. They now have a "Lite Package" with a monthly fee of 399 baht. Maybe good for an average user, but I rather pay the 200 baht extra to get unlimited so that I don't need to worry about expensive extra charges. In addition, they now have an "iPack Package" costing 699 baht per month for iPhone users who are not TrueMove customers already.  At the moment, the prices for the iPhone (including package) are iPhone 3G 8 GB 18,900 baht, iPhone 3GS 16 GB 22,900 baht and iPhone 3GS 32GB 26,400 baht. None of these prices include VAT. If you want the handset alone without a package then you need to pay an extra 1-2,000 baht. The Lite Package and iPack Package was announced after DTAC introduced their plans for the iPhone. Hopefully with a bit of competition prices will come down.

Taking HDR photos on the iPhone

Posted on March 25, 2010

One of the first apps that I bought for the iPhone was the Pro HDR app. I hadn't had the iPhone for very long but I was already experiencing problems with the camera when it came to metering. True the 3GS version you can tap on the screen to show what you want to focus and meter. But then, that often left everything else too dark or too light. The Pro HDR app is an easy way to deal with this. You basically take two pictures which are then blended together. No tripod is necessary but you should have a steady hand. The first shot you tap on the area of the screen which is too bright. Then for the second shot you tap an area which is too dark. Very easy to use and you can see the results quickly. You will be impressed for sure.

Inaugural sales of dtac iPhones almost doubles target

Sales of dtac iPhones during the 2-day inaugural sales event proved to be just as hot and sizzling as the current mid-summer climate and tense local political situation, with almost 2,000 units sold.

dtac’s Head of VAS Division Pakorn Pannachet said that the “dtac iPhone Day” event held during the weekend at Siam Paragon turned out a huge success, with total sales of 1,897 units, almost double the target. iPhone enthusiasts lined up since 10am on Saturday, hours before the actual opening hour of 5pm, to make sure they got their hands on the highly-anticipated smartphone. Sunday still saw throngs of customers who showed up to purchase the device, which ran out of stock in mid-afternoon.

dtac announced the launch of dtac iPhone last week, with 3G and 3GS models available, along with three tariff package options to suit different needs and budget. dtac iPhone goes on sale nationwide starting March 15 at 49 dtac service centers, 29 iStudio shops, selected 5 JAYMart and 5 TG Fone branches.
