Apple iPhone 4G Release Date Could be June
Apple today announced that its Worldwide Developers Conference will begin June 7, the likely date when the company will introduce its next iPhone.
WWDC, which will be held in San Francisco at the Moscone Center, will run from June 7 to 11, according to the conference's Web site, which went live earlier today. That is the same week in the month as 2009's WWDC, when Apple unveiled the iPhone 3GS and announced it would go on sale starting June 19, 2009.
Ezra Gottheil, analyst with Technology Business Research, noted that Apple has revealed its new iPhone at WWDC the last two years, and has no reason to change. "It's important, for one thing, to show [developers] what it can do," he said.
There will be fewer surprises this year when Jobs unveils the next iPhone. Last week, the Gizmodo technology blog posted photographs and analysis of a prototype of the iPhone that Apple is expected to launch this summer.
If Apple sticks to the pattern of the last three years, it will launch the next iPhone on a Friday. Assuming the company repeats the schedule of 2009, when it revealed the iPhone 3GS on June 8 and launched it June 19, Apple could start selling this year's model on Friday, June 18 2010.

I can’t wait for the release of the new iPhone 4G here in Thailand. Since you live here for several years, do you still know when TrueMove offered the iPhone 3G or 3GS here in Thailand in the past? Is it nearly the same release date than in US or Europe? I will be staying in Bangok until September 1st and hope TrueMove will release it right after the US launch date!

I think it was only about 3 months after America that the 3GS was being sold by True. Of course they had them at MBK very early on but at a very highly inflated price.

Thank you very much for your quick replay
I’ve been to MBK today and was pretty surprised that you can already buy the iPad there. I think it won’t take a long time until the iPhone 4G is released here – no matter if it’s officially released by the carriers or imported from US.

I have one more question: Just in case I will buy an iPhone 4G at MBK, what about the warranty? Since the iPhones are most likely imported from US, I should have an international warranty, or?
May 6th, 2010 - 22:30
If you are buying an iPhone from the US at MBK, you will most likely be asking the stall holder to do a jailbreak which of course will break any warranty. I did give this a lot of thought and decided in the end to pay a few thousand extra and buy a “real” iPhone from True. You can also buy from DTAC. These iPhones are unlocked and I have the option to put in other SIM cards. So far I haven’t been tempted to jailbreak my iPhone.

I think I will do the same. I can’t wait, I still love my BB Bold 9700, but the usability sucks. Btw, do you know any way how I can still chat with BB contacs? I already know whatsapp, but it costs money both for BB user and iPhone users. If you have any other idea please let me know

I use WhatsApp a lot to chat with people around the world. It only cost money to buy the application. Using it is free and the messages arrive on their phone like an SMS. Blackberry has a WhatsApp as well so you can chat between the two for free once you have both bought the app.

When I go to Thailand to visit my brother and Thai sister-in-law and their new son, I would love to be able to use my 3GS iPhone from here in USA on Thai mobile airwaves using a Thai SIM.
Do you know of anyone who was made that work for them and how?
Sounds like a DTAC or AIS sim may be best if I’m in/around Phuket, but I would probably have to jailbreak my phone? …
Any ideas on where to start looking into this? There is no relevant info on the DTAC or AIS English websites.
THANKS!

I am preparing a blog now about data plans for people to use with their iPhones while on holiday in Thailand. Your iPhone does need to be unlocked. But, it doesn’t need to be “jail-broken”.

Hi Richard, I have one more question: I’m using a BB Bold 9700 these days, and I am not sure if I should trade my Bold 9700 for the iPhone 4G or if I should trade my Bold 9700 for the existing 3GS, and then trade the 3GS for the 4G once it is released here in Thailand (which will probably take some weeks/months). What do you think? What’s the best choice for making least additional costs?

if you now somebody who would trade an iPhone 3GS for a Bold 9700, please let me know

hi
Can i ask something
If i brought iphone 4G from USA can i use it in thailand ? for internet and calling mobile

If you buy an iPhone from America you need to make sure that it is not locked to one carrier (which the majority are). You can lock it at places like MBK in Bangkok for about 500 baht. With an unlocked iPhone you can then insert a SIM card from local providers in Thailand such as DTAC. SIM cards cost as little as 49 baht and you can then top it up with Internet credit starting at as little as 50 baht. Go to a DTAC shop and they will help you set it up and running within minutes.

how much??
July 19th, 2010 - 00:34
You can use it but you have to jailbreak it.. which if anything happens to the phone you can’t go to regular apple store. You can do and find just about anything at MBK though.

Can you buy the iphone 4G yet in Thailand and how much euros cost it?
July 23rd, 2010 - 22:58
There is no such thing as an iPhone 4G. However, version 4 is not here yet.
July 24th, 2010 - 14:15

August 28th, 2010 - 21:41
You can get the small SIM cards now in Thailand. But people I know just cut down their regular SIMs.

Hi Richard
If I buy iPhone 4G from Hong Kong, can I use it here in Thailand?
And what do I need to do such as unlock it or jailbreak?
