Using an iPhone & iPad in Thailand Tips, App Reviews and News for the iPhone and iPad by Richard Barrow

Twitter for iPhone

Posted on May 21, 2010

Probably the most popular app on the iPhone has been Tweetie which I have been using extensively  during the recent street battles in Bangkok. It enabled me to report from both the frontline and also my office. The company was recently taken over by Twitter and two days ago they relaunched the app under the new name of "Twitter". Not only are there some new features and improvements, many people will love the new price tag: it is now free!

A good new feature is that you don't need a Twitter account to enjoy this application. Also, browsing trends, reading Top Tweets, finding popular users, and checking out public tweets geographically nearby are all possible. I like Twitter because you can have multiple accounts, post pictures, shrink URLs, add your geographic position, store often-use hashtags and search terms and a lot more.

Is the memory size of the phone simply for storing photos, video and whatnot or does the memory facilitate something else I’m not thinking of?

I understand there is a 3G network in Bangkok, but nowhere else. Is that true? Are there plans (soon) for a 3G network anywhere else in Thailand?

    Thanks

  4. Oops, I just noticed the link at the bottom about 3G coverage.

  5. The iPhone is like an iPod so memory size needed depends on how many songs and videos you plan to store. Only you can answer that.
